Are you aware that the 100 dollar bill is not really the highest denomination of dollar bill in the US currency? This is due to the reality that there are still other dollar bills in the history of US currency which are higher than the 100 dollar bill. As a matter of fact, one of the highest denominations of US dollar bills ever printed in the history of US currency is the 500 dollar bill. The said dollar bill was intended for larger financial business deals of the government and some other banks. Thus, it has been of great help when it comes to easy financial transactions of some government agencies and business organizations.

500 Dollar Bill

The very first 500 dollar bill was printed in the year 1928. It has a design wherein you can see the portrait of the twenty-fifth US president, who happens to be President William McKinley, on its front side. It has also a green color mostly on the back side of the bill. The said bill was last printed on 1945 but its circulation was discontinued legally on July 14, 1969 in pursuant to the executive order made by President R. Nixon. The executive order has been made to eradicate organized crimes and illegal drug deals in the US.

Indeed, aside from the 100 dollar bill, a 500 dollar bill was once existed in the US currency and is believed to be one of the highest denominations in the US dollar bills. It was used in huge financial transactions by the government and banks. Nevertheless, it was also used in illegal acts which paved the way to the discontinuation of its circulation in the year 1969.
