It is quite undeniable that there are various dollar bills in existence in this day and age. As a matter of fact, the US has $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 denomination of bills on print today. However, this is not true back in the year of 1928 up to the year of 1969. This is due to the fact that during those times, higher denomination dollar bills were also in existence. In point of fact, one of the highest denomination bill ever existed in the US currency is the 500 dollar bill. This dollar bill was intended for larger financial transactions of the banks and the government.

500 Dollar Bill

President William McKinley, who is the twenty-fifth president of the USA, is the one who is printed on the front view of the 500 dollar bill. Unfortunately, the said bill was formally discontinued in the circulation on the 14th day of July, 1969 by the Department of Treasury as well as by the Federal Reserve System. Nevertheless, $500 bills are still available nowadays but only as collector’s items. Thus, you can see most of those dollar bills in some online shops or online auction sites like the eBay being offered to some US dollar bill collectors.

Indeed, there is also a 500 dollar bill ever existed in the US currency aside from the usual denominations of the US dollar bills in these times. It is just that the said dollar bill was halted in the circulation due to some reasons. Hence, $500 bills can now only be seen and located in the hands of US dollar bill collectors.
